Biggest in his litter, this little guy came out almost twice the size of his smallest sibling. Dont let his size fool you, he is sweet calm and loves to cuddle!

Big Sur's Timeline

Welcome to the World, Big Sur!

Big Sur was born at 4:53AM Tuesday March 10th 2020 and weighed in at 12.3 ounces. He was the 6th to be born in his litter and the fourth black. After his cleanup he started nursing right away. What a little bundle of joy!

Week One - Stength in the Numbers

3/10/20 - 3/16/20


This week was all about nursing and gaining weight. Breaking one pound in the first week, way to go! 
        
        - Day 7:     1 lb 3.4 oz
        - Day 6:     1 lb 2.2 oz
        - Day 5:     1 lb 1.1 oz
        - Day 4:     15.7 oz
        - Day 3:     14.3 oz
        - Day 2:     13.7 oz
        - Day 1:      13.3 oz



On day 2, Big Sur had a puppy wellness exam and given a clean bill of health from our local Veterinarian. 


On day 4, Big Sur had Veterinarian perfomed dewclaw and tail. 

Week Two - Eyes wide Shut

3/17/20 - 3/23/20

Weight gain has started to ramp up this week, he was so close to breaking that 2lb mark!

        - Day 14:     1 lb 15.8 oz
        - Day 13:     1 lb 14.1 oz
        - Day 12:     1 lb 12.8 oz
        - Day 11:      1 lb 11.3 oz
        - Day 10:     1 lb 8.8 oz
        - Day 9:       1 lb 6.9 oz
        - Day 8:       1 lb 4.8 oz

Eyes are still shut but he sure is moving around!

He started standing more and walking a bit more than last week. 

Week Three - Seeing is Believing

3/24/20 - 3/30/20

His eyes are finally open to see the world and he's really moving around this week.

- Day 21:     2 lb 12.7 oz
- Day 20:    2 lb 10.2 oz
- Day 19:     2 lb 7.9 oz
- Day 18:     2 lb 6.6 oz
- Day 17:      2 lb 4.6 oz
- Day 16:      2 lb 2.7 oz
- Day 15:      2 lb 1.8 oz 

He broke the 2 lb mark and was so close to 3!

Week four - See no evil, hear no evil,                          bark no evil

3/31/20 - 4/6/20

With wide open eyes and ears, he started to see and hear his surrounding and begin to understand what they are "I hear footsteps, look theres someone there, play time!!"

So many new things to experience, he started playing a lot more with his playmates and discovering all the fun chew toys!

         - Day 28: 3 lb 8.8 oz 
         - Day 27: 3 lb 8.1 oz
         - Day 26: 3 lb 6.4 oz
         - Day 25: 3 lb 5.2 oz
         - Day 24: 3 lb 3 oz
         - Day 23: 3 lb 14 oz
         - Day 22: 2 lb 15.5 oz 

He broke the 3 lb mark!

At the end of the week, the pen was doubled in size and potty training began.

Week five - Please sir, may I have some more, gruel?

4/7/20 - 4/13/20


With a great start to potty training it was time to move on to more grueling (just being punny) tasks.

Day 30 marked the first day eating a bit of puppy gruel. Big Sur learned immediately to eat from the bowl giving mom a much needed temporary break from all the nursing.

    -Day 35:       5 lb 2.4 oz.
    -Day 34:      4 lb 14 oz.
    -Day 33:      4 lb 9.1 oz.
    -Day 32:      4 lb 4.8 oz. 
    -Day 31:       4 lb 2.4 oz.
    -Day 30:      3 lb 15.9 oz.
    -Day 29:      3 lb 10.8 oz. 

Week Six - Full of Energy

4/14/20 - 4/20/20

With gruel last week and a move to wet kibble this, Big Sur started to gain weight at an accelerated pace. And with all that started to show some of that puppy energy.

He's showing much more interest in the toys now running and jumping and having the time of his life with his littermates. Wait until he sees the great outdoors!

-Day 39:      6 lb 0.4 oz
-Day 38:      5 lb 11.7 oz
-Day 37:      5 lb 10.2 oz.
