Sweet as can be, this little guy is such a sweetheart who loves his cuddle time both with his littermates and his people parents!
Cruz was born at 3:20AM Tuesday March 10th 2020 and weighed in at 6.1 ounces. He was the 2nd to be born in his litter and the second black. After his cleanup he started nursing right away. What a little bundle of joy!
3/10/20 - 3/16/20
This week was all about nursing and gaining weight.
- Day 7: 9.9 oz
- Day 6: 9.5 oz
- Day 5: 8.7 oz
- Day 4: 7.8 oz
- Day 3: 7.6 oz
- Day 2: 6.6 oz
- Day 1: 6.4 oz
On day 2, Cruz had a puppy wellness exam and given a clean bill of health from our local Veterinarian.
On day 4, Cruz had Veterinarian perfomed dewclaw and tail.
3/17/20 - 3/23/20
Weight gain has started to ramp up this week, he broke one pound, way to go!
- Day 14: 1 lb 3 oz
- Day 13: 1 lb 2 oz
- Day 12: 15.8 oz
- Day 11: 14.9 oz
- Day 10: 13.9 oz
- Day 9: 12.4 oz
- Day 8: 11.4 oz
He started standing more and walking a bit more than last week.
3/24/20 - 3/30/20
His eyes are finally open to see the world and he's really moving around this week.

- Day 17: 1 lb 7.0 oz

He was so close to the 2 lb mark!
3/31/20 - 4/6/20
With wide open eyes and ears, he started to see and hear his surrounding and begin to understand what they are "I hear footsteps, look theres someone there, play time!!"
So many new things to experience, he started playing a lot more with his playmates and discovering all the fun chew toys!

- Day 26: 2 lb 7.4 oz
- Day 25: 2 lb 6.2 oz
- Day 24: 2 lb 4.5 oz

He's well on his way to the 3 lb mark!
At the end of the week, the pen was doubled in size and potty training began.
Week five - Please sir, may I have some more, gruel?
With a great start to potty training it was time to move on to more grueling (just being punny) tasks.
Day 30 marked the first day eating a bit of puppy gruel. Camper learned immediately to eat from the bowl giving mom a much needed temporary break from the nursing.
- Day 35: 3 lb 10.5 oz.
- Day 34: 3 lb 8.3 oz.
- Day 33: 3 lb 4.8 oz.
- Day 32: 3 lb 2.0 oz.
- Day 31: 3 lb 1.6 oz.
- Day 30: 2 lb 15.8 oz.
- Day 29: 2 lb 12.8 oz.
4/14/20 - 4/20/20
With gruel last week and a move to wet kibble this, Cruz started to gain weight at an accelerated pace. And with all that started to show some of that puppy energy.
He's showing much more interest in the toys now running and jumping and having the time of his life with his littermates. Wait until he sees the great outdoors!
